Dynamic Car - Iterative design to rapidly build MVP features for a insurance app

Role:
UX UI designer
Time frame:
6 months
Overview

Insuro Technologies has been instrumental in enabling insurance companies worldwide to operate securely, digitally, and sustainably.

We involves designing an app tailored for road travelers and vehicle owners in Sweden. The primary objectives include enhancing user experiences, providing real-time road assistance, optimizing route planning, tracking driving statistics, and delivering personalized insurance solutions tailored to each user

role

UX UI designer, Interaction designer, prototyper, communicator

Time frame

6 month - Design MVP features according to module

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT

Super app featuring five main modules, each encompassing a multitude of features.

Delivery

As a member of a two-designer team, we worked within a condensed timeline to deliver the main feature for the MVP. Our responsibilities extended beyond design; we actively participated in communication and analyzed user stories.

  • Set up a design process that help in prioritizing and allocating resource to complete all tasks
  • Establish a design kit to maintain the consistency of the whole app ,speed up the design process
  • Build up a design system, not only define the system base on the anatomic design concept, we also define the patten for repeated components
  • For each user story, we created prototypes, showcasing how users would interact with the product, documenting accompanied these prototypes, prepare hand off material to dev and PO

We conducted desk research and analyzed competitors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the overall market, typical needs, and user context. The client team collaborated with us to extract insights from users in the Scandinavia area, how  user behavior, the environment, cultural will build up the user journey how the user behavior, the environment, cultural will build up the user journey

We had done main five modules for the MVP version:

  • Home screen with map help to navigation, information of traffic, wildlife, weather, parking,... to provide the best assist for user on the road
  • Safe trip planning: Empowering users with informed route choices
  • Trip log: A comprehensive system for tracking, statistics, and report generation, providing users with profound insights into their driving profiles.
  • Profile: Leveraging intelligent analysis of driving metrics to offer personalized advice and insurance package recommendations
  • Insurance: Streamlined administration of user vehicles and insurance plans, utilizing user behavior data to offer optimal add-ons and benefits.
  • Setting: with other system setting, also allow user to manage their vehicle in one place

I am not able to share more about the product, but I’ll show how we we iteratively envisioned ideas, implement to refine and delivery quick and efficiently

Define requirement

This is a feature in Triplog module where user able to see the history of trips that they had done in a period off time in the map visualize by path and it have the function:

  • Showing all trip user had done in one day
  • When user stop for an amount of time, a trip will automatic logged, show number of trips in map
  • For each trip show direction and path; start and end points

Analysis and Ideation

When analysis the feature we finalize some requirements fir this function:

  • User may have too many trips in a day
  • Some stop points may occur multiple times in a day, as users may visit the same location multiple times.
  • User might go back and forth in a same route many times
  • Show the trip with direction and not overwhelming the UI
  • When will a day be considered as starting

Brainstorming design solutions for the identified issue

While brainstorming design solutions for the identified issue, I took inspiration from Google Maps for potential design solutions, the map will resemble with certain attributes enhanced for improved functionality :

  • Each vehicle icon represent a trip
  • Use outline for the road In cases routes are intersect, the outline will differentiate and clarify the path
  • Use outline for the road In cases routes are intersect, the outline will differentiate and clarify the path
  • Pin icons help show the stop points
  • When select a trip it will change color to show the selected state
  • Using good fill and outline color for the road to stand out of the map

Evaluation and Review

Final Implementation

Project reflection

Utilizing iterative design has proven to be effective and efficient in delivering design solutions within the project's timelines. This significant MVP project provided me with the opportunity to develop other skills:

  • Improve my analysis and communicate skill
  • Design an product MVP with lot features required us to organization the design file with a proper structure by user stories, note down the design patten on special interaction and noting special interactions ensured a comprehensive implementation of the design.
  • Alway work Involve engineering upfront, It helps to reduce any rework later on as an understanding of the technical limitations upfront will help to inform your design strategy.

It is vita to recognize that the best design should align user needs and business goal while considering the limited of resources. An ideal solution remains theoretical unless it can be realistically implemented and utilized by real users.
